Sketchbook

This is the beginning of a charcoal drawing of my dog. It doesn't really fit my concentration but could possibly make a nice breadth piece.

AiMS #3 - Bicycle

For this assignment the media used were colored pencil and graphite on the actual bike. In the background I used colored pencil and oil pastel. This piece was inspired by the style of Grant Wood.

AiMS #2 Monet Acrylic

This piece was inspired by Monet's style. I think it looks more sloppy than impressionistic. I guess impressionism isn't my thing. The brightly colored leaves are ripped paper with blended oil pastel glued on to the canvas.

Homework #5 Updated

In order to fill in the negative space I added my sister on the other side of the piece. I'm still adding shadowing to her face but this is what it looks like so far.

Homework #5

I'm not sure how I feel about this piece yet. Obviously its not finished yet, I'm still working on the shadows. I left the background blank for now because my other piece is blank also and I might be able to use the background to tie the two together somehow...

Homework #4

Beginning of Homework #4, Colored Pencil
Another self-portrait but this time I have my red hair :). Still layering on color and deciding on the background but it is a good start so far. My concentration is portraiture. I'm playing around with foreshortening and I really enjoy working with colored pencil so that will probably be a frequently used medium.

Homework #3 Self Portrait

Graphite on paper, still working on the hair and shading on the face. The mouth is also off a little. I can't seem to get it exact but its getting there...

Homework #2 Food

Popcorn
Watercolor, Acrylic, Graphite on Paper
This one was interesting to work on. The shape of popcorn is very irregular and the shadowing is very subtle. I sketched and shaded the popcorn in graphite, then layered on a light yellow watercolor wash. The table surface in the background is acrylic.

Still adding shading and color to some areas but it is almost finished

Rauschenburg Collage Contour Drawing

Mixed media, mostly colored pencil and chalk with some charcoal
The faces are a little unproportional but it was a contour drawing so I'm not that concerned.
